Haven't posted all that much on here mainly because, I am happy to report, that I have been busy being a proud father to my son, Wesley (born in September 2010).

Because of it my time to wander around the forest city has been pretty much non-existent. But because this blog could use some new content, I thought I'd post a couple of snapshots taken over my son's first winter.

One London Place

The tallest building in downtown London, Ontario - and one of the tallest in all of southwestern Ontario - is Sifton Properties' One London Place. From what I understand original plans included building a second skyscraper on site (aptly named TWO London Place) but a recession made it financially retarded to build a second tower.

It's too bad. The skyline would have been better served with a second glass highrise looming over downtown.

The Walker J. Blackburn Memorial Fountain

The Walker J. Blackburn Memorial Fountain was officially acitvated only a couple of months after we moved to London in 2009 (yes, yes, I'm sure it was coincidental too). There is a viewing area set up to admire it near the Forks at the Thames but the background from there really isn't all too impressive so I took this shot from the bike path to get at little bit of the cityscape as a backdrop.

London, Ontario is home to fantastic bicycle paths that criss-cross the city. When you are on them there are times you'd be hard pressed to remember that you are actually in a city at all.

My wife and I took a little stroll along them this passed Victoria Day weekend and snapped a few photos along the way:

Getting used to a new city.

I used to live in Montreal. I'm a proud Montrealer. From worshipping the Montreal Canadiens to enjoying a couple of pints while basking in the sun on a terrace downtown, I live and breathe all things Montreal. There is no place on this Earth that I consider superior to my home town (What? Shouldn't everyone feel that way about their city, town or village of origin? If you said no, then you are a big stinkin' liar.)

At any rate, despite loving the pure awesomeness that life in French Canada has to offer, my wife and I decided to pack up and relocate to south western Ontario. London, Ontario to be exact (well, by way of Hamilton, but that's a whole 'nother story).

After moving from Canada's second larget city to it's 10th largest and living here for over a year now, I have to say I don't really miss life in La Belle Province (well, except for maybe eating poutine at La Belle Province). London, Ontario really is a beautiful little city, and the people here are absolutely great.

With this blog, I hope to share my experiences of the city, post some photos of the area and maybe share some stories as I discover all that London, Ontario has to offer. Because, while it may be significantly smaller than Montreal, London isn't exactly void of pure awesomeness.
